After 15 years of choreographing and presenting original dance for the St. Louis community, founder and artistic director, Dawn Karlovsky, presents the inaugural season of Karlovsky & Company Dance!
Prepare to be MOVED!  Join us for our debut concert, EMERGE, March 28 & 29, 2014 at COCA in St. Louis which will feature exciting new works, live music, and stimulating performances by the expressive dancers of Karlovsky & Company Dance.  EMERGE will feature a re-staging of Thin Walls(originally commissioned by Dance St. Louis) where the boundaries between private and public become indistinguishable, and Lost Birds (originally commissioned by That Uppity Theater using poetry and live music) featuring cellist Tracy Andreotti.  The program also features new works, All in a Day, and …And Everything Changed.  All in a Day (which premiered in the St. Lou Fringe Festival 2013)is a dance structure that explores the art of interactive improvisation of dance and music through spontaneous expression, communication, design, and form.  All in a Day playfully and abstractly looks at the ritualistic patterns, encounters, conflicts, and support that exist in daily life.  Joining the dancers are musicians Tory Z Starbuck and Bruce McLaughlin.
“…a bold performance, certainly, and a captivating one at that.”
-KDHX, Performing Arts Review on Modern Mixes at the St. Lou Fringe Festival

The concert closes with the premiere of …And Everything Changed.  This new work for 7 dancers earnestly and movingly examines how we cope, adapt, and adjust to situations and experiences in ourselves and in our lives.  This powerful piece is emotionally honest with rich, textural movement that communicates a universal experience.
